Steel Shoot Matches

This unique experience allows the shooter to draw from the holster, move and use cover, and shoot at a variety of steel targets down the length of the range. By timing it and making it a friendly competition, it also adds just the right amount of stress to make this a good tactical training exercise. With three stages at each competition, you get multiple challenges that will test your shooting and tactical movement skills. Pistol caliber carbines (PCC’s) using frangible ammo are permitted, but will be scored as a separate group.  Matches will be held approximately once per month. Come out and try out a unique indoor shooting experience!

Whether you’ve done similar competitions in the past or not, there is a place for you here. We also offer practice sessions prior to each match, where a single stage is set up. Practice participants will be timed, and the practice stage can be re-run multiple times in the practice hour. This is a great opportunity to familiarize yourself and tune your skills prior to the matches. Practice sessions will be held generally about a week before the next match.

For safety reasons, only one participant is on the course at a time, and is accompanied through the course by the timer/Range Safety Officer. Because of this, space is limited; sign up in the shop or online right away to secure your spot.

 

Requirements:

• Frangible ammunition is required for safety reasons. Select Fire offers 9mm frangible ammunition for sale. Other handgun calibers permitted, but participants would be required to bring in frangible ammo for other calibers. Any ammunition brought is subject to inspection by Select Fire, to verify that it is frangible.
• Holsters of any kind are permitted and encouraged, though not required. If the participant does not have a holster, they will start from the low-ready position.
• A minimum of two magazines are required, though 3 or more are suggested.
• Footwear appropriate for tactical-type movement is required. No sandals or open-toed shoes.
